(Fourth Wall: You can see this, your characters cannot)
And once again they're picking on Raider. They just don't understand, the man paints what he sees. Rather, they don't want to understand. Roy sees the world with different eyes. I once found an emulator site and spent an instructive couple of hours putting jpegs through its filters and seeing how they looked to various types of colour-blindness. Roy's is the rarest and the most bizarre: A vase of crimson flowers with green leaves came out as a horribly bright fuschia with blue-violet leaves. So just for funsies, I ran a photograph of Flash through it and what do you know? - it came out the same eye-bleeding magenta that Roy always paints him with.
I guess I have more patience with Roy because I don't hear the world the same way, either. If he could see what I hear. Plus I... know what it's like to be an artist who frankly sucks. I'm really not a very good musician, but I like to play, it makes me happy even so and most people don't seem to mind it. Roy's got good linework and a good sense of proportion. The black and white pen, pencil and conte work he's done is really very good. But he loves to paint, it makes him happy. I guess I like to look at his work because it allows me to see the world through different eyes.
