1976 Nobel Peace laureate, Betty Williams, will make a stop in Missouri for the
2009 PeaceJam Heartland Region Youth Conference to talk about Community-Based Solutions to Violence.

When: Sat. Nov. 14 to Sun. Nov. 15
Where: William Woods University in Fulton, MO
Cost: $100 per registrant

Youth (ages 14-19) from across Missouri and Kansas are invited to attend this two day conference to meet and converse with Betty Williams. Highlights include a Q&A with the laureate, interactive workshops, family group interactions with college-aged mentors, Saturday night Irish dancing, and a service project where students will build a mock refugee camp to spread awareness of the conditions children suffer in such camps.

Betty Williams won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1976 for her efforts to help find a peaceful solution to the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Her actions were spurred on by the deaths of three inncoent children caught in the crossfire of the violence between the IRA and Nationalists. She continues to work tirelessly today on behalf of all children around the world, and is currently involved with the creation of a CIty of Peace in Italy to house children from refugee camps.

Don't miss your chance to meet Betty before she leaves for Italy to begin her work on a City of Peace!
