Al-Anon lead

Jan 28, 2008 15:28

So tomorrow night I do my lead at a neighboring Al-Anon meeting. That is basically where I share how I came to find Al-Anon, what was going on in my life at the time and how things have changed since I started attending meetings. I will also share on what tools in Al-Anon helped me the most, and about sponsoring people in Al-Anon and the importance of having a sponsor. I am of course, a little nervous but I know many of the people that will be there. Giving a lead gives me a chance to see the progress I have made and be grateful. It also gives me a chance to give something back. I know in all the years I have heard other people's leads, I have always walked away feeling I got something I didn't have before. Some little tid-bit of information that made sense in a way I had never thought of it before. Some sense that I am not alone in a particular respect. Giving back means giving someone else a chance to gain some of the wisdom I have gained. I grow when I give back. I grow when I am honest about who I am and how I have done that growing. In essence, what works for me,what makes me feel less different, accept my life as it is, have courage to make changes and set boundaries with others, and live a better life.
