Michael, or as he would have everyone call him if he could develop mind-powers, Booster, was headed for the library right after eating his lunch. Once there, he'd either find Wanda by looking around like a vaguely lost puppy, or failing that, find a table to sit at and hope she could find him. Given that he was fully equipped with distinctive ( Read more... )

Wanda arrives shortly after, and it really doesn't take her long to track Booster down in part because of the aforementioned 'jock in the library' thing--sure, there are academic athletes at a school as high-pressure as St. Jude's, but it was still a high school and they were still a rarity. It also helps that he's extremely tall, yes.

She goes over and sits down across from him, setting her backpack on the tabletop. "Hi. I'm sorry, I hope I didn't keep you waiting long."

It is possible she is consciously trying to keep her accent less noticeable, which means...it's still prominent, but not quite as much as it ordinarily would be.

"Hello! Aw, no, that's okay. I wasn't waiting long at all!" Booster completely fails at getting up and helping Wanda into her seat in a gentlemanly fashion, but he at least thinks about it. And he doesn't really notice her accent, or doesn't think it's anything he should notice or comment on. ... Possibly he's completely unobservant, who knows.

"So you found the place okay?" ... Smooth.

"I've been here before," she says, mildly, "It's a reasonably decent place to do homework. On that note, what've you got for me?"

...right down to business, then! She doesn't mean to be brusque, and will probably end up getting more conversational later on. Unless whatever homework he has is really interesting to her somehow, because she is kind of one of those people who genuinely enjoys school.

This is the first time Booster's gotten help from someone (that wasn't his sister) with homework, so he assumes that maybe this is just... normal behaviour under these circumstances. Or for geeks in general, he's not sure. He grabs a couple of books and some notes from his bag. "Okay, um, I have to finish up some work on the circulatory and central nervous systems for biology, and then there's... well the religious stuff can wait, I guess." Which is flaily boy-code for I have no idea what I'm doing.

Fear. It's a scent that our intrepid library knows well. It smells like the fresh, steaming hide of the musk ox on the first day of spring or the lonely ptarmigan upon realizing that there is a fox in the area. It smells like
teen spirit?

Er, maybe not. Whatever it smells like, there's a friendly library wandering over that-a-way to offer assistance. "Hello."
