I read Ouran chapter 68.. and my reaction is not to dissimilar to the image you see below.. That will (hopefully) make sense as I go on
So this chapter was kinda a continuation of the last, with Tamaki being introspective about his feelings for Haruhi and when they started..
So if you have not interest in seeing that
DO NOT READ. because that is the majority of the chapter.
What I was glad about was the fact that Mori got a measurable amount of paper/screen time in this chapter, and actually got to talk !
I should also note that Megeumi is actually still there! Yes, she hasn't dissipated (well, at least not yet)
But that brings me to something else.. Whilst Tamaki is still being in thinking mode, he comes to this conclusion
uh, wut? 0_____o
ok, ok. That wasn't exactly my reaction, I kinda got wind of this in the previous chapter, where Tamaki actually (paraphrasing here) that his childhood was actually not all that bad.
Again, this makes me question where the Tamaki pity party came from...
But you know, the revelation that Tamaki's so called 'trauma' wasn't actually a trauma didn't bother me to the effect that, given the manner of which it was resolved (which I'm guessing people would say chapter 67 where Tamaki goes 'oh yeah, I've probably been in love with her for awhile, lol' and had Haotir still tried to say that his trauma was, well, deep and a trauma, it would of been a case of 'show, don't tell'
and for those who don't know what that concept means,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Show-not-tell For those that want a more direct, albiet cruder meaning, I usually take it as 'put up or shut up'
But yeah, since I never really bought the whole trauma sublot to be the whole devastating 'NOOO Now Tamaki will never find true happiness!!!!1111eleventy' that it may have been intended, I never felt cheated.
and then I got thinking
What about Hikaru?
yeah, the twin who (apparently) hadn't given up on Haruhi, but had a big time dealing with his feelings because of Tamaki? WHAT ABOUT HIM?
Does that mean that all his effort, all hi pain, meant essentially nothing?!
This aspect does bother me, cause sometimes you can never really tell what authors are going to do with the non-leads
IN any case, that is partially the cliff hanger : Tamaki wants to talk to Hikaru
I wonder how that is gonna turn out
