street fatshion/fantasies

represent!
it always makes my heart glad to come across closer-to-sized people on the most popular streetstyle websites like hel-looks and the sartorialist.

i still have designs on a collaborative fat street style blog. it will happen, i hope, but not as quickly as i'd like.

i have this idea in my head that if i could make a decent living wage--i read an article in Chatelaine recently that described me as an "classic underearner," a person who accepts low-paying non-profit jobs because i'm unable to recognize my skills/feel underqualified-- for a couple of years, i could put aside money to enable me to work for maybe a year or half a year on a casual or part-time basis. then i could start producing all the writing and artistic projects that currently reside in my head. maybe even learn to sew! a friend of mine--who's a teacher--did this a few years ago and she said it was the best year of her life.

i've had a job--usually two or three--since i was twelve old. that's the norm for most of my working-class friends, and i don't resent it or feel entitled to an "easy life". i just can't help but fantasize about giant, unfettered swaths of time in which to think, play, and dream.

dreams, street style
