i'm now the proud owner of these high-waisted lamé shorts (in silver dots/back) and i intend on wearing them... IN PUBLIC.

my birthday theme this year is "the future"--those who've been hanging around here for awhile may recall the Cats-themed salon extravangza that my amazing friends put together to celebrate my quartey century last year--which ( Read more... )

Hmmm. I'm getting there. I ordered the infamous AA high-waisted pencil skirt. Then I tried it on and quickly learned that I am probably more apple than pear. That, and the high-waist came up OVER my breasts. Ha! I sent the skirt back because I'm not quite ready to tell the world to kiss mah belly (though I like the thought of jumping up and down and exclaiming that), but I didn't automatically hate my stomach and gnash my teeth in the way I usually would. I agree that fats has helped me to accept that I don't have to be an hourglass, and I have worn more form-fitting clothes (that do show my stomach/hips) in a way that I probably never would have in the past.

That said, I completely approve of silver lamé shorts. I can't wait to see photos!

ohhhh i like that that, and i bet that looks hot on you. ich will fotos! jetzt!

and on a totally random note my speaking german right now just reminded me of the last time i was visiting my oma and my little cousin was over too and wanted to eat this decorative--because germans fill their homes with "decorative" chocolates and candies, it seems--easter bunny. she kept eyeing it up and being like "osterhasen haben?" her parents were like "NEIN, DU DARFST NICHT!" "OSTERHASEN IST VERBOTEN!"

for some reason i felt you would enjoy this story.

the whole decorative candy phenom actually causes me anxiety when i'm in the vaterland. i basically keep my own stash because i'd rather just assume all candy--even the stuff out in bowls on tables--is probably decorative than stress myself out trying to determine what is edible and what isn't.

the other thing i find curious but also sort of awesome is erdnuss flips. have you ever had those? basically they are shaped like cheezies but are peanut-flavoured instead. i find them kind of sublime. the other thing i love is the banana juice (which maybe you have in the us, but i've never found any that tastes good here). i was fond of ordering orange, cherry and banana juice layered in one glass. KIBA! so delicious.

& i will eat my weight's worth in marzipan and/or edelnougat. srsly.
