I found the perfect story to tide me over after coming back from Europe. It's called I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith who also wrote The One Hundred and One Dalmations. The story is about the Mortmain family who live in a decaying castle in the English countryside. Romance comes into play when an American family buys an estate nearby. It's about first loves and the aching it causes on the heart. It's so romantic and I can relate. I was kind-of torn on watching the movie adaptation of it because they often leave out loads of things, but this one is absolutely amazing. It has literally every part of the book put in the movie, and gets everything right. I highly recommend reading the book first and then watching the movie. So here is a picspam. (I love being a romantic, haha.)
"I write this sitting in the kitchen sink. That is, my feet are in it; the rest of me is on the draining-board, which I have padded with our dog's blanket and the tea-cosy."
"Just to be in love seemed the most blissful luxury I had ever known. The thought came to me that perhaps it is the loving that counts, not the being loved in return -- that perhaps true loving can never know anything but happiness. For a moment I felt that I had discovered a great truth."
"Only the margin left to write on now. I love you, I love you, I love you."
