My 10-year reunion is in August! I had also planned to avoid it, but a friend of mine talked me into accompanying her, too. A few of the other people I still bother to keep in contact with are also going, so I think it'll be okay. It's just so weird to think that we graduated 10 years ago!
I did the DC marathon a couple years ago (I had only ever watched seasons 1-3 and the series finale). I hated Dawson even more than I had before. I also did a One Tree Hill marathon. I think my love of Sophia Bush and my hatred of dropping anything halfway through are the only things that got me through that one. Actually, that show is mostly okay, sometimes actually brilliant in its craziness, and sometimes deeply, deeply awful (usually when the creator wrote the episode, haha).
Your tweets about Dawson's Creek made me really, really want to go out and buy a boxset. I lingered near the Dawson's Creek DVDs at JB Hifi once for a little too long and was mocked mercilessly, but it rates as a worthwhile guilty pleasure. I haven't seen any of the newer seasons, either. I remember briefly seeing it on tv in a low ratings slot a few years ago and Jen was in a wheelchair and had a child? WHAT?
Also, I think that you're not still hanging around the same people you were friends with in high school is probably more of an achievement than it is something to feel sad about. The people I was friends with in school are still all close, but they also seem not to have made any other friends outside of that group, or ever left the suburbs we grew up in. It makes me feel a bit less wounded about being excluded, even though they're nice people and it's partly my fault that we don't stay in touch.
