“Aaaaaah, mou! It’s raining again!”
Rise Kujikawa, Matt has come to realize, is the kind of girl who can look great regardless of the situation. She just had this… this thing about her, this way of ordering herself to align just so with the rest of the world. It was kind of wrong, how she always looked so damned pretty.
(Not that he was complaining, of course.)
“Did you bring an umbrella?”
“Huh. Er. Um.”
Smooth, Williams. Real smooth. He was inclined, of course, to believe that it wasn’t entirely his fault. How the heck did she manage to come over so quickly in the first place?
…And did she REALLY have to bend down like that?
“You know what this means.”
“I do?”
Rise only giggled, then took up his hand and tugged him out with her, into the rain.
“Hey, hey, hey-”
“Come on, it’s fun!”
They’re both drenched and standing in the middle of the steps leading down from the Academy, surrounded by pairs of students with umbrellas or rain jackets who were looking at them like they’d gone insane. Matt knew he ought to care - he really did - but the only thing he could think of now was the feel of Rise’s hand on his, and the way she smiled.
