Let's see if the Japan Trip 2018 tops it.
1. My brother told me about KeyMe kiosks and I got my wish: a key maker that doesn't ask questions except if I'm happy with my purchase. Apparently, the "DO NOT DUPLICATE" is just a suggestion (except in parts of Los Angeles). So I duplicated my classroom key. If I can get hold of a master key, and a white paper, and my phone camera, I'm set for life.
2. I only went to class twice. I was testing so I gave a free day Friday to plug the sub work.
3. I saw Isle of Dogs at the Alamo Drafthouse. It was a great movie and the ADH special IoD menu (yakitori and Trash Island shake) were delicious. The only thing I did not like was the food/drink tab, but I owed Hillary.
4. Saturday was the EP Comic Con. Rather than buying tchotchkes, I went to get Dante Basco's autograph. I've never met anyone famous so I was a little antsy waiting for Dante to get back from his panel. Somehow, I found the right things to say. He signed my Avatar: The Last Airbender season three DVD box set. I told him that he did a good job in the role of Zuko, he put a lot of essence into his character. After taking a selfie, Dante even asked about my Big Hero 6 T-shirt (he said he was a fan too) and he also liked my Pan American tote bag.
Dante's a nice guy. Very polite. It was great to meet the guy behind Rufio, Kitty Bobo, Zuko, Jake Long, Dolph the wrestler, among many more. I asked if Zuko was his favorite role and Dante replied "It was among his favorites."
That last one in particular just brought a dose of happiness that I haven't experienced in a very long time. As in not since I got that story publication deal for Devolution Z in September of 2016.
