Autopsy Results for Ed

Via a text from my aunt, the medical examiner said Eddie died from hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and untreated diabetes.

After a lunch meeting, my aunt said Eddie was uninsured due to his lack of employment and didn't make an effort to seek medical attention. She tried pushing him, but he wouldn't budge. He drank like a damn fish every day. And I saw it coming with the hypertension; he was just overly anal about things. At Thanksgiving, he assigned the seats, he kept rigorous schedules with his girlie playdates saying how long they'd stay at the bars before going home or to their next stop.

Sean and his girlfriend want to keep Ed's house, which is fine by me. I haven't time or money to invest in cleaning or repairing dozens of things that need attention. The only thing I don't understand is that the house was Ed's, originally my grandparents'. Prior to her death, Mom signed off her share of my grandparents' estate meaning it was all Ed's. But now Sean claims that a my brother and I need to sign papers formally acknowledging that the house is my cousin's. What I don't understand is why we need to get involved when we never had a share of it in the first place. That and Dad and my brother really hate these cousins so it'll be a mess when they bring the paperwork.

EDIT: My brother and I are entitled to a share of the house. Since Ed had no will, the house was to be divided between my aunt, uncle, brother, and I. However, Sean was trying to cheat us out of our share by signing our share over to him so he owns the house. We refused to but Sean moved in anyway. The city doesn't give a rat's ass who owns the home as long as some bastard pays the taxes. But since Sean doesn't own it on paper, he'll be up shit creek if he tries to buy insurance or if he needs major repairs since he won't buy insurance. We're just waiting till something happens and he gets in trouble for not being the official homeowner on paper.
