Status: Owned

History: One of the seven Archangels, Raphael was also one of the first of them to be captured, lured in by a particularly clever human Hunter working in concert with a powerful demon. This demon took a hand in the process of forging Raphael's binding ring, adding an extra layer of demonic magic that resulted in the Archangel's memory being damaged. While he remembers his name and has scattered memories of life before his slavery, the full significance of his Rank and nature is forgotten -- and even if he is reminded, as he frequently is by those who know the significance of the name "Raphael", it will slip his mind again within a relatively short time, unless he's wearing his own ring.
Much of Raphael's healing power is also held back by the ring, but that is still his primary gifting. It has made him very valuable property over the centuries, and he has served a variety of very wealthy owners, healing their injuries and illnesses and extending their lives. He has also been occasionally owned by corporations such as hospitals and, whenever possible, he has served as a Healer for other angels. It was in this capacity that he was originally brought to the U.S. by the builders of the new nation's first legal Auction House. He was kept as the property of that house for more than a century, until the financial difficulties surrounding the Civil War caused him to be sold.
Since then he has changed hands several times, from private owners to Auction Houses to hospitals and back. His last owner lingered in poor health for quite some time, despite Raphael's honest best efforts, and after his recent death, the Archangel was sold along with the rest of his property. Where he will go next remains, as yet, to be seen, although given his background it would not be unusual for an Auction House or hospital to purchase him.
Raphael is in many ways a model slave -- quiet, dignified, even-tempered. But his obedience extends only so far, and his reserved manner should not be mistaken for brokenness. There's a spine of steel hidden beneath that quiet exterior, and he will raise his hand against a human to defend his brothers if needs be -- even if he can't be sure of a successful outcome.
