I had a great weekend with my son and daughter-in-law.
They came to Belleville by train on Thursday evening. We spent Friday antiquing and visiting the local Alpaca farm where I had purchased Wanda a pair of alpaca wool socks and, later, an alpaca wool scarf. Alpaca is well known for its light weight and warmth. Friday evening we watched the Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride at the Stirling Fairgrounds.
On Saturday we started with breakfast with my dad at the Riverside Restaurant in Campbellford on the balcony overlooking the Trent River where we saw yachts sail by.
The afternoon was a visit to the wineries of Prince Edward County, south of Belleville. "The County" as it is known now produces excellent wines due to the sun and soil. It is also south enough to have market vegetables prior to the area around Stirling.
We also visited the Small Pond Artists' retreat on a farm south of Picton in The County. This is owned by Wanda's friend and former c0-worker Krista. It has excellent facilities at reasonable cost.
On Sunday, we lazed around over a big brunch until it was time to drive them to Belleville station to catch the mid-afternoon train to Toronto.
