This hawk slammed into my kitchen solarium window while in hot pursuit of a Downy Woodpecker. The impact killed the woodpecker but only stunned the hawk which allowed me to take this photo before he gathered his wits and flew away.
I think that it is a Cooper's Hawk but it might be a Sharp-Shinned Hawk. Any ideas? According to the Cornell site, Stirling Ontario is right at the northern limit for both species in winter.
