The toils of living in the Confederation Helvetique

Last night I spent CHF 9 on laundry. That's a little ridiculous, dude.

Also, this weekend, while we were in France, postcards cost about half as much. Unfortunately, I forgot to get any.

And my flat mates must think I'm really quiet. When I eat with them, I mostly just stare in awe as they talk really quickly about things like the difference between French and Swiss medical schools, and I just struggle to keep track of what's being said.

It is so difficult figuring out classes here. I mean, at least now when I go to a class the professor actually shows up and the class actually happens. However, there is no way in Hell that I can keep up with second year Russian here (mostly because Russian majors here don't really do much besides Russian, so by their second year they can actually speak a decent amount of Russian), so I went to first year Russian as well and decided that I would just be content with learning the alphabet again. But I think now I've come to the conclusion that my life would just be way simpler if I just decided not to take Russian at all and just took the political theory class that a) I would actually get credit for, b) would count toward my major, and c) is actually four credits, so it would save me from having to find two more two credit classes that I want to take. Also, I think I'm going to take Game Theory (en anglais), even though I'll probably fail it, though the professor said that my half-forgotten high school calculus and my non-existent background in economics would be fine. Now I just need to figure out how to actually register, and actually find all the shit online that I'm supposed to, and actually get my books. Oh, and the girl we were talking to on the tram after class who just graduated from Harvard and only has to figure out the IHEID system rather than that and UNIGE was having problems too, so I'm pretty sure it's not just than I'm dumb.

Oh, but in trying to figure out how to find the syllabus for my political theory class, I realized that we've actually been given school emails. You would think someone would have told us, as apparently I've been neglecting email on exciting subjects such as the Asian students' association. (Maybe la Suisse isn't so different, after all.)

Ok, I'm done thinking of negatives, mostly because there aren't actually that many. An exciting thing, though: the new season of How I Met Your Mother starts today! (Not that I can watch it on TV, but, you know...)
