(no subject)
So much for my two days of rest before going home. The gig tonight went really well, so well I got offered work on Sunday for £100 for the day. Obviously I need cash and couldn't turn it down. Olly also got my work that he couldnt do because he's in Hereford, so I'm working tomorrow at the Olympia Theatre doing sound and lights, which I am a bit nervous about because I don't really do lights, but oh well, we shall see how it goes. So yes, overall for four days work this week I will have earnt £310. Now that aint too shabby for someone who needs money for christmas.
As I mentioned, the gig today went really well. There were three shows on in the venue, and for some reason they put me in the theatre, which is the biggest room :-s Didn't really have much of a chance to listen to the system or anything, which was a real shame, but had to quickly take what mics and cables I could find and setup. It's so different, in that they don't really have any good mics to use, so you really do have to use what you can find. Soundcheck, was pretty basic, I wasn't overly pleased with the sound, but hey, what could I do. Managed to organise it so that we opened on time for doors which was cool. The mixing position in that room is sooooo wrong. Its a massive bass trap. You have to go out and listen in the audience for most of it, then make your changes and go out and listen again. But it sounded great in the audience. I quickly got a pretty decent mix for all the bands, so was quite happy in the end.
I'm a little bit annoyed at myself for not turning down one of the work offers in the next two days, because I really need to fully clean the flat and pack for going home and stuff, and could use some time to relax. But I guess that's not going to happen. But I can't complain because I am getting paid well for it.
