Well... I do see a difference in the way one can act upon love, but I don't know that I think those categories are entirely real.
Mate-love and family love are the same, except for the sexual part. And family and friend-love are the same in a lot of cases too- the only difference is in degree of intense expression. Are you a "blood is thicker than water" kind of person? Or someone who's more "family is something you can choose" kind of person?
The emotions you feel, those aren't love. Love is something you do. In that way, I say that it's all the same- you love who you love, and the way you love is up to you.
There are, in my opinion, different ways one can love, but they're less about who you love (family, friends, lovers, pets, etc.), and more about HOW you love them (providing and nurturing, bringing succor and relief, protecting and avenging, helping them find what they need, offering them opportunities, etc.) than anything else.
