Hunting Butterflies

I thought I'd post something real, instead of the usual silliness and meme-whoring I tend to work with.

Behind a cut to spare the eyes of the profane, and also the profusely uninterested. )

that's spectacular. i could really use reminders like that lately; i feel like i've had a distinctly fewer number of those things than usual. although it could be that i'm just missing them and some spirits somewhere are stomping and shouting at my obliviousness.

*laughs* I know exactly what you mean, about the stomping and shouting. Some times I'm surprised that mine even put up with me. LOL

Awesome. The thing that turned me on to butterflies is when I learned about the Imaginal buds. Imaginal buds are special cells within a caterpiller. When it goes into the chrysalis the Imaginal buds act as a foreign body and the caterpiller's anti bodies go into overdrive and completely liquify the caterpillers body. Then miraculously the liquid resolidifies into the butterfly.

I know that there have been times in my life when the Imaginal buds were activated and I felt like I had been liquified. That is why I sometimes refer to true initiation as the Chrysalis. To be taken apart so thoroughly and then put together again. Very scary, but ultimately worth it for the transformation.

Hmmm... imaginal buds, huh? Very cool- I'm going to have to do some research into that one. Thank you for the info!
