Productivity

This morning, I've applied for a job, written in my "other" blog, the one I still don't get paid for and don't expect I ever will, and did a teeny assignment for the freelance thing I do get paid for.
And I invoiced them for it, to boot.
So now I'm posting here and then I will shower and begin cleaning the house. Friday, I'm having a dinner party. The disaster geeks are coming over, and Robin, my friend who took me to the Feist concert last week in Moncton (oh yeah, I met Feist - Leslie (heh heh) is Robin's cousin so we had VIP bracelets), is cooking with me.

The basement renovation is almost done. The walls are painted (hot pepper, a very bright green, and newport, an ocean blue) downstairs and the floors in, the ceilings up, the lights are bright. We just need to get the trim painted and in place and we can start cleaning up.
I do have one remaining project down there - clean up the former tool cupboard and turn it into a media centre. It's old, it's grimey, it's missing a board on top. But, with shelves in it and a whole in the back for cords and a fresh coat of paint, it will be a shabby but awesome media centre to hold the TV, DVDs (we're going to have to get some boxes, though, I think) and all the rest of that junk. The cabinet is taller than I am and is wide - about five feet, I think. Lots of space for a big TV (er, my brother's big TV) and the lot.

Then it's Bill's project - putting up cupboards above the washer and dryer and putting a counter top over them to make a laundry area, which will also have a desk for my crafting dreams, including space for my sewing machine. I'm figuring I can sew or work on my scrapbook or make necklaces while the dryer's running, keeping my feet toasty. It'll just be nice to have a space of my own down there.
Bill's getting his own spot too - a space for his drawing table.
I'm thinking I want to build a screen to block myself in. I need to either paint it (hmm, leftover paint splattered on it?) or find some awesome fabric. That's a summer project, though. You know, if I ever have time to do anything ever again.
