Just got back late yesterday from a quick trip down to the coast to get some birds. I picked up four pelicans and three laughing gulls from some of my rehabber friends down there. My friend Connie, the education curator went with me, because they won't let me drive city vehicles one-armed. We had a great time, went out to Blackbeard's bar in Corpus the night we stayed there and had a blast with some of my old friends. We drove home trough a massive storm yesterday pretty much all the way home. Got hung up in Austin, as usual, it always has the worst traffic jams. But we made it home safe and sound. Even managed to get in a couple of hours of birding early in the morning before we left and before the weather got nasty. Saw some great stuff.
Got home last night and the temperature was dropping rapidly. This morning there was strange white stuff on the ground and on the cars. I think you northerners call it "snow." The boys were very perplexed, but had a good time running around in it and trying to eat it off of the grass. I'm sure it will be melted away by 9 or 10 this morning, but I'll have to clear it off my car to go to work!
Got a lot to do at work today to get the new birds settled in, then I have to get ready for my trip to Austin tomorrow to see what I can see. My friend Connie is going with me again. We're going to spend the whole day there, and get settled in our "executive condo" before we head to the theatre! I can't wait...
