(no subject)
Apparently a military aircraft (F-18 Hornet) crashed shortly before noon in San Diego. Fortunately no injuries or casualties reported yet (the pilot parachuted safely), though a couple houses were destroyed. [Update: three people were reported killed and one missing. :-( ]
I saw helicopters circling from my office window a few miles away (2.86 miles according to googleearth) and figured there was a big car crash on a highway or something. I didn't see or hear the plane go down, but probably could have if I had turned my head a bit to the left at the right time or had my window open.
