Yesterday I discovered that my biennial merit review is this year, not next year, and is already late. Which means I have a flurry of really annoying things to do this weekend, as opposed to my usual mountain of mostly interesting things to do.
I was amused to realize that my upgraded PC (same PC as before, just with a new motherboard, cpu (Intel quad core), memory (8GB), and
graphics card) is officially a "terascale computer" due to its graphics card. Programming it will be fun, though I couldn't find any development information for that particular card yet on the ATI website since it was only recently released.
My boss (CSO of the San Diego Supercomputing Center) was amused when I told him.
Thursday I bought round-trip tickets again to (and from) Chicago. Can't keep me away, man. I'll only be in town for a couple days, and will be there to drive down to Champaign for a reunion October 3-5 at
my old church. Some flisties here may find that place vaguely familiar.
Back to work.
