The candidates have their High Fidelity moment

*yawn* I should really stop posting when I'm dead tired. Rereading yesterday's post made me realise that I tend to ramble and repeat words over and over... I should really stop posting when I'm dead tired.

Blender magazine recently asked the presidential candidates their top 10 songs, and my co-worker and I found the results quite amusing.

John Mccain's Top Ten
Barack Obama's Top Ten
10. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes,
The Platter
10. Yes We Can, will.i.am
9. Sweet Caroline, Neil Diamond
9. City of Blinding Lights, U2
8. I've Got You Under My Skin
Frank Sinatra
8. Think, Aretha Franklin
7. What A Wonderful World,
Louis Armstrong
7. You'd Be So Easy to Love,
Frank Sinatra
6. Good Vibrations, The Beach Boys
6. Touch the Sky, Kanye West
5. As Time Goes By, Dooley Wilson
5. Sinnerman, Nina Simone
4. If We Make It Through December,
Merle Haggard
4. Gimme Shelter, Rolling Stones
3. Take a Chance On Me, ABBA
3. I'm On Fire, Bruce Spingsteen
2. Blue Bayou, Roy Orbison
2. What's Going On, Marvin Gaye
1. Dancing Queen, ABBA
1. Ready or Not, Fugees

No surprise the Peacenik Obama picked anti-war songs What's Going On and Gimme Shelter, but two ABBA songs on McCain's list? Really? Snorted the co-worker derisively, obviously McCain's going hard for the middle-aged women vote.

Note Ol' Blue Eyes crossing party lines. I'm not too keen on him myself, preferring others like Dean Martin and Bing Crosby. Sinatra - it's a guy thing, isn't it? The image of a tough, super-cool guy with big friends to match. At least none of the candidates picked My Way, noted the co-worker.

Nice mix of old and new songs on Obama's playlist, and not a bad selection with McCain's either -- though we take note with the ABBA. Co-worker insisted SOS is the best ABBA song, while I rambled on before settling on Lay All Your Love On Me. Now I have to bring my ABBA cd to work tomorrow for a schoolin'. And to think this all is because of Senator McCain. Thanks, dude.

See any songs you might have on your personal top 10?
