SDCC: Costume and hotel

Jul 10, 2008 21:25

My costume, she is completed! Ahahaha! Okay, so I didn't really do much for it like the talented and brave people who truly cosplay. It's a big step for me, yanno. Check out what I have for San Diego Comic Con so far:

It's only missing the red blouse. Only the one I found is far too short, and thus I shall be flashing my pasty white belly to fellow convention-goers.

Last night's chat with Sal was a blast. We spent nearly five hours going over the San Diego itinerary (including a foodie tour of LA!), and will be getting customised t-shirts to commemorate the occasion. Yes, we are such dorks XD

Speaking of San Diego, this may be of interest. The owner of Manchester Hyatt in downtown San Diego recently donated a large sum towards the campaign of Prop 8, which seeks to define marriage only between a man and a woman. Gay rights leaders are organising a boycott against this hotel.

“Manchester's contribution to this anti-marriage initiative is discrimination plain and simple,” said Brigette Browning, president of Unite Here Local 30, which represents 4,500 hotel and restaurant workers. (Union Tribune)

Sweet, the local union's in on the boycott. The cynical part of me says, well that's because the hotel isn't unionised. That may be true, but it's still great a union is supporting gay rights :D
