Had a lovely chat with Sal regarding life in general, and once I managed to depress her with talk of executions, dead cats, and racial tension, we were due for some animation talk. She's just started with the Justice League, and has gotten Ultra-Humanite into her head. I meanwhile, mentioned Jeremy Sisto (Mr Beardy up above) and his voice acting as Batman in the New Frontier film. Someone joked Sisto should put the crack down while playing the Dark Knight. His voice is very deep. I don't quite remember if it was done well, but I do remember it was jarring. Not what I was expecting after years of associating Kevin Conroy as Batman's voice.

Classic Kevin Conroy!Batman

'sfunny, when I thought I missed tonight's episode of Law and Order I confessed to feeling weird ogling Jeremy Sisto. He had after all, played Jesus in a memorable television movie. And yet I also could see him as Batman. It was, I said, like Batman-Jesus on Law and Order playing a detective. Sal thought I was referring to Christian Bale, who was also Jesus in a tv movie and is the movie Batman. Also, she took umbrage at me calling Jim Caviezel the 'pretty' Jesus because Bale's pretty too. Is there some sort of device that would allow me to zap those memories of him, dusty and in a robe-like tunic?

You'd think after umpteenth seasons of Law and Order, the viewers would get tired of the formula. Story ripped from the headlines + two dedicated cops + two attorneys + last minute twist = gold!  Tonight's was no different with the first crime taken from last year's Michael Vick bust for dogfighting. Then it drudged into hidden marital assets, fake booze, and a reporter not willing to divulge her sources. I've never been the original L&O fan, though I became serious with its sibling series Criminal Intent and Special Victims Unit. Thanks to a good review in the LA Times, I decided to tune into the season premiere and checking out the Brit actor taking Jack McCoy's recently vacated seat.

There's quite a lot of awful American accents by Brits (Clive Owen is one), but Linus Roache completely blew me away. He sounds like a true New Yorker. Haven't heard his original accent, but Wikipedia has him done as a Manc. I bet it's a remarkable transformation. How's this for a coincidence? Roache played Thomas Wayne, Bruce's father in the Batman Begins film.

In addition, I'm seriously digging the interaction between the two detectives played by Sisto and Jesse L Martin (Ed Green). There's a playful teasing there missing from most partnerships. This episode had Detective Lupo (Sisto) mention he might get a dog, leading Green to josh 'He's lonely'. At this Lupo looks over his shoulder and gives a slightly embarrassed smile. It's so very adorable. Ordinarily my slash detector would be pinging right now, but nope. This was a true bromance.

It's a shame Martin will leave L&O for greener pastures though. I would have loved to see the partnership develop more. More potential for slashiness that way XD
