[Getting sent to Westport by the weeping angels was more than a little unsettling for Miakis, not to mention highly unpleasant and exhausting. When she returns to Mayfield on Thursday, she eats a larger meal than a woman of her size and stature should be capable of consuming, takes a long nap, and... talks to her drone husband.

Dammit, Ken. It's ( Read more... )

[Climbing trees? She'll find she isn't alone in that.

A miserable looking kid in a sweater vest -- that possibly being the chief source of misery right there -- has had a similar idea. Caesar's managed to get to a branch high enough for a decent view of the park yet still large enough to support him lounging against the trunk.]

[Miakis is perched on a branch in a nearby tree, idly swinging her legs and just kinda hanging out. She seems to consider climbing some more, but thinks better of it and, finally spotting Caesar, calls out to her tree-neighbor~]

My, my, someone looks unhappy!

Hm?

[Caesar looks over at the other tree and raises an eyebrow. Why does she sound so familiar...?]

You would look unhappy, too, if you were stuck wearing this thing.

[He picks at the fabric of the sweater vest irritably.]

Oooooh, yeah, the clothes here are kinda... [She wrinkles her nose and... pauses, yes, that voice sounds familiar.] Well, you know. The town gives stuff back every now and then, though, so you should get your clothes in the mail eventually!

No, I didn't know, but that's good to hear. [He leaves the vest be again. Must. Ignore it.] I'll have to have a bonfire for these on a later day.

[Sweater vests are unforgivable, just saying.]

Wait. [He stares at Miakis for a good minute or so before the familiarity hits him.] ..the old lady?

Do I look like an old lady to you?

[There some questions that should never, ever be posed to Caesar; that is one of them.]

Not yet, but I'm not sure I can think of you as this young after knowing you're a whole lot older in my time. [Sorry, Miakis, the first impression after that phone conversation was 'old'. That is what sticks.] Miakis, right?

And you don't even exist in mine... [Gosh darn whippersnappers these days, they have no respect for their elders.] Right! And you're Caesar. Nice to meet you in person, I guess!

Fair enough. [He shrugs and looks back towards the park.] Yes, that'd be me. You're from around the end of Falena's civil war, right?

That's right~ We were cleaning up the mess when I got stuck here. [Pause.] How are things in the future~?

Just had another war, though it all boiled down to stopping a madman from destroying the True Runes in the end. What a mess that was.

Who the heck would want to destroy the True Runes? That doesn't sound like a very good idea, sheesh.

One of the Rune bearers who couldn't, well, bear them anymore. All that fighting so he could get them all in one place... [Does someone sound a little bitter over here? YEP.] Yeah. It would've been a bad idea. It would've destroyed the Grasslands, for sure. Maybe some of the neighboring countries.
