New RN experiences

Mar 10, 2008 04:41

Particpated in my first code as a pseudo RN today. (I have my temp license, haven't taken my boards yet.)

And I did CPR for the first time.

Unfortunately, it was for naught, b/c the pt didn't survive, but it was interesting from an education point of view. Learned a LOT!

And restocking the code cart. Learned a LOT LOT about how NOT to do it.

(There was so much extra stuff in there, it was difficult to find the essentials. Oh yeah, and half the essentials weren't there! Don't know who did it last time the cart was opened, but they did not do it properly. And the checklist for the inside...old, old, old. We threw out so much stuff. Much of it was expired (some from 2003!) Some that didn't have expiration dates, but the plastic was yellowed and gross. And just a lot of unnecessaries. Like I said, a mess. But fun to learn!)

Good night for me.
