Free at last...thank God almighty :)
Well I am home from a truley amazing earthwatch experience to the Rainforest/jungle of Puerto Rico. Heres a short summary of the way things went down.
So I left on the 10th, sat through a 5 hour day in the junkiest airport in the midwest (Midway). I missed my rendevous with the research team, so I had to call them and wait for them to pick me up.
While in the rainforest I measured a lot of trees, caught a lot of frogs, and hiked a lot, all of which turned out to be extremely muddy and smelly experience.
I also went kayaking in the ocean. Shit. I am the only person who could get a fucking kayak stuck in the ocean. (there were two other people in the boat with me). We were down a paddle, cos we lent it to another boat that had lost a paddle. TWO PADDLES ARE NOT ENOUGH FOR A THREE PERSON KAYAK. So the other team members flagged down some locals to tow us in. As they towed us in, the kayak got completly water logged and we had to bail the water out with a flipper so we didnt sink. GEEZ. all that for some lame snorkeling that probably fucked up some corals major style. but the underwater camera did turn out to be worthwhile. you guys gotta see the pictures. I was scared shitless in the ocean. haha never let go of my lifejacket. but hey there were waves.
As for now, I am sitting at home scratching my skin off as a result of Midge bites. they are so much worse than mosquitoes. they like drill a whole in your skin, and every time it rubs on your clothes it itches and bleeds. I am covered in them. Benedryl is my friend.
Anyways I missed you all, and I hope we can get together soon and I'll show my photos.
