Here is a review of the HIM concert I went to last night.
First off I want to start my review with a little bit of a complaint :
I really, really dislike concert venues that do not have seating.
Okay now on to the more important stuff.
The first band on was called Bleeding Through. I am not a fan of Thrash Metal , Cookie Monster vocals, so this band was not any fun for me. Especially when some people wanted to mosh. YIKES ! If there had been a drinking game for every time the singer dropped the F-word, we would have all died of alcohol poisoning. One surprising part of the band is that they have a female keyboardist. For the guys, she was some good eye candy. I will give them this: Musically, they sounded very good. There were nice melodies and even a catchy riff here and there.
Now on to the much more important stuff.
I love the band HIM. From the first time I listened to Dark Light, and soon after, And Love Said No (Greatest Hits 1997 - 2004), I was hooked. And to top it all off they have a lead signer to die for.
The Bands performance was top notch. The sound however was a different story. Sometimes the mix was great, then suddenly there would be too much guitars and hardly any vocals. I have heard that Ville does not participate in the sound checks. Maybe he should have for this venue.
Ville and the guys appeared to be in a great mood, smiling and joking with each other. And may I say, Ville has smoking down to an art form. It looks like you’re watching someone have sex. It was the first time in my life that watching someone “light one up” was a pleasure, if not erotic. I know many a girl watching were wishing they were one of his cigarette’s, me included.
Ville’s vocal were impressive. His range, although heard on the CD’s is great, live they were incredible. At one point the sang so low, it vibrated my body like a prolonged bass note. Talk about shivers ! WOW !
Linde was excellent. Seeing him live just confirmed for me what a great guitarist he is. And one thing I did find a little amusing, he walks around his side of the stage like a caged animal. Sometimes walking in a circle as if to tell Ville: This is my territory, don’t come over here.
Burton and Mige were, well Burton and Mige. Cute, adorable, and doing a great job.
I am so impressed with Gas. He beats those drums with style. And also, he is doing an AWESOME job in losing weight. He is really dropping the pounds and looking great.
All in all I really enjoyed my first HIM concert and I just pray that next time I see them, I have a chair to sit in from time to time because right now I have a back ache from hell and my feet are swollen two sizes bigger!
concert,
him
