telurian got a nice raise at work! It means a small, but solid (and very needed) increase in our income. She's done such great work there, and I'm really proud of her *
I've had a lot of of knee pain lately. Part of it from an old meniscus tear on my right knee, but also some mysterious pain has developed around my left patella. This makes walking down stairs painful and confusing at the same time. It's weird not to have a "strong" side. I'm looking forward to having acupuncture in the school clinic again starting tomorrow.
We're doing some real work on the apartment at long last. Tons of things recycled, given away, and thrown out. There's a lot more space opening up, which I'll need because I want to have at least part of my practice at home starting next Fall. Much more work to be done!
Working in clinic three times a week is intense and pretty thrilling. My supervisors are all helpful and we all seem to have rapport. I'm already learning how to streamline and be flexible with my initial interviews. Montefiore is the best. The pace is hectic and relentless, but the people are beautiful. They're sending me all the Spanish speakers, and I'm speaking Spanish pretty much the whole time. It strikes an old, deep chord in me because it's my first language - and because of that my patients somehow end up feeling a little like family. There's also a great, affordable restaurant close by (La Caridad) that makes fabulous arroz con habichuela, platano maduro, and a lovely batido de mamey.
My niece got the part of Evita in the school play! A big cause for celebration as she's worked hard for the part. My parents may be flying in that weekend to surprise her. They're long awaited move to Miami is almost here. They have tickets for October 19th. During the winter holidays when we all have time off
telurian and I plan to join my sister, brother-in-law, and niece in a big family visit / reunion in Miami. I haven't seen my parents in almost two years and I miss them quite a lot, despite the older and murkier feelings that sometimes come up. I'll be happy to see them *
