And the icons I was tagged to do by my new great friend sekahyyh :
1) HSM Lucas Hiproll by fallenotbroken
My first fandom on LJ as most of my friends know was High School Musical. One of the best characters in that fandom is of course the fabulous and flamboyant Ryan Evans, played by the incredibly talented Lucas Grabeel. One of Lucas's most impressive qualities is his dancing ability, which includes the way he can move his hips. It is hypnotizing, and just plain fun to watch, so when I saw erikssiren 's post (fallenotbroken is her icon journal) that had this animated icon of his hiproll during High School Musical: The Concert's "Bop to the Top", I knew I had to get it! The world needs more of Mr. Grabeel's sexy dancing.
2) HP Luna petting the thestral lalita_b
My favorite character in the Harry Potter franchise is without a doubt Luna Lovegood. She's so original, funny, smart, talented, and unafraid to be who she is. On more occasions than one I've considered changing my default icon to one of her, but until I can get hannah_sheree to make me one (since it wouldn't feel right having someone else do it when she made me the fantastic one I have now), I'm sticking with what I currently have. Anyway, there are many great icons of Luna, but not many that truly show that "otherworldness" quality she has about her. However, the scene with her and the thestrals is one of her most famous and best, as is a great example of the many different kinds of "different", challenging perceptions, that even from tragedy good things can arise, and Luna even in the strange wizarding world is more out there in a good way than typical. And this icon, showing the beautiful Evanna Lynch petting the at first glance frighting and disgusting thestrals, is such a fascinating picture. It is reminiscent of medievel pictures and stories of the virgin taming the unicorn too, which just makes the icon that much cooler.
3) D&J I Hate You by madesimpleicons
Mrs. Hayfer from Drake & Josh. Such a funny show, and an hilarious icon. It makes me laugh just looking at it. The problem is when to use it. I don't want to offend anybody accidentally, but then when I really am angry, this icon seems too funny to use. But I love it which is why since I got it I have not gotten rid of it.
4) yyh Hiding from stupid people by choushininoru
I realized not too long ago, that despite one of my favorite shows of all time being Yu Yu Hakusho I sadly didn't have one icon from the show and that just seemed sad. So I went on a hunt all over LJ for icons from YYH. But as I came across some, I started getting worried that the icons I liked wouldn't make sense to people not familiar with the show (which was at the time and still is sadly too much of my flist--watch YYH people! You will love it I promise!). At the time I had limited icon space, so I wanted to make sure the icon I got would be YYH, but also make sense to those not familiar with the show. Then I found this icon of Botan, which can work for so many situations, and makes sense to people who don't know the show. Seriously, who hasn't felt like this?
(for an update, the lovely sekahyyh sent me her folder of YYH icons, so expect much much more of them in the future! I'm going through them right now XD)
5) House pats Chase by jcjoeyfreak
And now we move onto House. In case it isn't obvious by now, I like to have icons from a variety of my favorite fandoms--which is why I pay for the extra userpic space. XD My favorite two characters from the show are House and Chase, individually, and in a relationship--platonic, or as a couple (I like House/Wilson too, but House/Chase despite being less likely I do prefer). In the early seasons especially, Chase was practically House's puppy dog (exempting when he was playing spy for Vogler), agreed with everything House said and went out of his way to prove House right. House delighted in picking on Chase (he does everyone, but that's not the point of this userpic), but even when he was punishing him for selling him out or whatever, Chase continued to do what he said loyally, even when he was pissed at House. Which brings me back to the puppy/lap dog metaphor, and why I like this icon where it looks like House is about to pat him on the head (although the scene this is from, that does not happen), as if to say "good dog". XD And Chase is annoyed, but not moving away.
6) Disney Peter Relaxing by fear_my_cons
This is one of my far more recent ones, from my Peter Prejudice entry talking about how during my trip to Disney World, I noticed that despite Tinkerbell being EVERYWHERE, it was ridiculously hard to find Peter Pan in merchandise himself--not even pins! (i ended up finding him in only one action figure set from the animated movie in the "World of Disney" store--that's the ONLY Peter Pan thing I found). I was looking for him because my sister's favorite Disney movie is Peter Pan So angry and to show my support, I went searching for LJ icons since I had just bought more space. I found this one, and even looking at it is very relaxing, and fits his worry-free personality very well too. :)
So those are the six that sekahyyh picked for me. However, this is fun, and I would love to do more, so if anyone else does this I will definitely comment and love for you to pick out more for me to talk about!! :D Icons are fun.
