Interests:
Ashley Tisdale- Without a doubt one of the best actresses out there, and she also seems like such a genuinely nice person too. She gets excited and acts like a little kid at times (as you can see in behind-the-scenes videos and just when she's being interviewed), who's totally unafraid to laugh loudly and throw her head back, but you also see her being quite composed and relaxed as well, so she's not immature. She's just a beautiful, down-to-earth, talented person, and probably one of the best role models out there for kids today. :)
Broadway- I've always loved theatre and everything about it. Whether it's reading plays, acting in them, working backstage, just watching a performance--the costumes, the set, the music, the hard work and tension in preparing for that moment when the curtain rises--it's just something I've always felt incredibly connected with. My grandmother and aunt have been taking me to broadway shows for as long as I can remember (and my favorite and most associated theatrical performance is definitely A Christmas Carol which isn't exactly Broadway but when listed in my interests I meant for it to generally refer to all big musicals/plays in New York City), which I've seen with so many different actors and versions so many different years, and never got tired of it). And it's probably going to be in my life for as long as I can get to a stage to at least watch the magic happen.
iCarly- I adore this show. I LOVE Miranda Cosgrove ever since I first got to know her in Drake&Josh, and have seen almost everything she's been in (except Camp Rock, which is ironic since it's one of her first and most famous movies). She's a very talented actress, especially when it comes to comedy, so naturally I was thrilled when I heard about this show she was going to star in. The writing is smart, I'm always falling over in laughter pretty much every episode, the characters are lovable and interesting, and most of the situations are based on (slightly exaggerated as is common in Dan Schneider shows, but still plenty believable) real life situations and deals with them in very creative and fun ways. Even the serious episodes have great humor in them, but still hit very close to home, and the themes in each one aren't bashed over your head, but you still get them and that's fantastic in a "children's show". I also love the fact that it does deal with modern technology that kids are encountering every day (XD like when I got excited and thrilled that Cell Phones in class were a problem mentioned in the movie High School Musical--media is keeping up with what kids are doing today), and encouraging that "do something weird or strange or unique and send it to us so we can all watch and be fascinated/impressed! Don't just sit there watching us all day" kind of thing that Nickelodeon used to have. All in all, fantastic show.
The Suite Life (of Zack & Cody)- I used to be much more in love with this show than I am lately--mostly because Maddie (Ashley Tisdale) hasn't been in recent episodes, and there have been even more repeats than usual due to the after-effects of the Writer's Strike, and one can only take so much Suite Life (unlike D&J which never seems to really get old...). But back with the older episodes, I loved the London/Maddie dynamic (XD and being me, what it did seem to suggest) and some of the humor again has me hysterically laughing. But it too, also, has those serious episodes (or issues in the episodes) that are given with that hint of humor or exaggeration, but still lets the message or issue hit home (especially for instance, the episode where Maddie thinks she's too skinny and London thinks she's too "not skinny" and then they spend their time gorging and starving themselves to look better--one of the BEST episodes dealing with body image that I've seen on television). Also, episodes with Corrie (Vanessa Hudgens) I really love because 1) it's Vanessa and I love Vanessa and 2) where else on TV are you going to find such a BLATANT lesbian crush---especially on children's TV?? XD Plus she's absolutely adorable.
Writing- I've always adored writing. I've taken Saturday classes, summer classes, was editor for my school literary magazine, wrote for my school newspaper, and went to an arts High School (
Long Island High School For The Arts) for two years (half day since my public "home" school wouldn't let me go full day) where I majored in Creative Writing. Fanfiction, short stories, poems, prose, essays, I love writing in general. XD Part of the reason why I'm probably so addicted to LJ. I just find it a lot easier to express myself through writing than any other medium I suppose.
Drake & Josh- Probably one of the best shows on television, although sadly it has since ended. Again, blatant boylove even in just the title itself! XD Extremely smart and witty writing, always has me falling over in laughter no matter what episode or how many times I've seen it. Probably one of the most realistic kids shows too (what other kids shows mention fake ids, underage drinking, homosexuality, adultry, religion, etc.?). Probably the BEST example of dealing with serious/controversial/real life issues through humor--though keeping the emotional weight of the topic. And need I mention the tons of "man hugs", falling over each other "fighting" but look like they're doing something else, the "i need you" serious episode, and even kissing that happens between these two boys? This show is a slash fangirl's heaven! And there are plenty of other interesting and lovable or at least enjoyable characters on the show too aside from the boys: Megan, Crazy Steve, Helen, Craig, Eric, Mindy, Gavin....
RENT- You'd probably have to be insane or extremely judgemental to see this show (or even the movie) and not be a fan of it. Probably one of the greatest Broadway shows of all time with a beautiful message and great music, which makes it a tragedy that it's closing. Although what really touched me about the show was Mark, and the whole exchange he has with Roger in "Goodbye Love" and Roger accuses him of hiding in his work "from facing your failure, facing your loneliness, facing the fact you live a lie. Yes you live a lie! Tell you why: you're always preaching not to be numb, when that's how you thrive! You pretend to create and observe when you really detach from feeling alive..." It's always scary to see yourself in a character and it's not in the most positive light. But that makes the show all that more closer to me. I can definitely relate to Mark. Although I love Maureen and Angel and Collins and Joanne and even Benny too! XD Benny always makes me laugh, although he can be a jerk at times too. But Mark is really the reason I love the show.
Icons:
(XD I'm very lucky she picked some of my favorite ones!)
Troy Gaydar Broken- by
iconthology I've almost deleted this icon so many times to make room for others when i'm going through my userpics (because there's really no specific reason or use for the icon except that it's funny), but from when I first saw it the icon STILL makes me laugh! I just love it too much. XD Because it's so true...Troy actually getting jealous of one of the most obviously gay characters Disney has probably ever created. And Troy is pretty stupid in general. I enjoy torturing him in fics, as well as his canon pain/suffering/delimmas. XD But it's just such a cute icon and the perfect description of that scene in the movie. ;)
Luna and Harry- by
twisted_suiker I love Luna. She's the best and most lovable character in the entire Harry Potter series (in my opinion at least) and without a doubt my favorite. In fact, she one of my
top five favorite characters of all time (see link to entry of it on side bar too). Which is why I have probably more icons of her than any other character in my userpics...XD And I wanted desperately while reading the books (especially the fifth) for her to get together with Harry (though I knew it wasn't going to happen, and only supported it if Harry was straight...and because I despise Ginny Weasley and her relationship with Harry with a passion since it's competely unfounded)--especially in the scene displayed in the icon here because she was reaching out and believed in him when really nobody else did. But the icon itself is just really beautiful, and can be used for so many different situations, (sad/friends/serious/calm/lharryxluna shipping/etc...). One of my favorite icons.
Bitchy!Ryan- by
han_corrupted XD I just smile when I see this icon, and I doubt I'll be deleting it any time in the future if at all. Pre-HSM2 especially, Ryan was always portrayed for some reason in fics as this spinless, gentle, sweet and kind boy--which even in the first movie is completely not his character. He schemes, he's a bit conceited, he gets annoyed, he gets pissed, and as proven in the second movie, he can claim revenge swiftly and sneakily without it seems the slightest hurt to his consceince. In short, Ryan can be a bitch. Lucas Grabeel is also one of the best actors I've ever come across at any age from any genre of movie, proven best by the fact that he remains in character and extremely expressive even when he's not the center of a scene and is alway reacting to the events and dialogue occuring in the scene, and because of this the character of Ryan is terrificly expressive with his emotions as well, and the face that he made to his twin sister when he completely betrayed her is just so wonderful and perfect for the moment and emotion of that time, I love it. So naturally, I loved this icon, and it's perfect for whenever I'm feeling smug and/or bitchy. ;)
