Metaphorical Disney's Trying to Make the World a Better Place

ETA: I would like to make it clear that these are simply my opinions, I do not know the actual screenwriters of these various series, and no offense is meant (although I sincirely hope that Disney nor Nickelodeon would not take offense to any of this).

I originally posted this on my Facebook on August 29, but I realized that you all would probably ( Read more... )

XD Yeah...I mean, I suspected Mitchell for a while, but it was when they had that premiere of HSM2, and the Disney "surfers" were interviewing all those stars, and Mitchell got all excited and said "Lucas...is right beside me!" XD He sounded like a fanboy. It was so cute, but I was like "let's see...out of all the people he could be excited about seeing...."

Thanks though! XD I was discussing it with my sister forever and she started to get annoyed with me after a while, so I was hoping someone else would be interested.

Wow... I noticed ALL of these things but I figure it was just ho-hum g-rated humor (as you mentioned) but now that I think about it more, It really makes sense.

And Yes, Mitchel is gay and so is Corbin bleu (sorry ladies, he is!)

I often wonder when the day will come that Disney AND Nick will explore the issues of young gay love......will probably be near the end of our life time (hopefully not) but it would be nice...

XD Yeah, when they do it once or twice I'm like "yeah, they probably didn't mean it like that...", but once it becomes a constant joke, I just start to wonder. Especially in the case of Oliver. XD ( ... )

Ahh, this is awesome and kind of makes me want to go watch some Disney shows. I haven't been keeping up with any of them. But, anyway - you made really good points. I just think it's kind of unfortunate that it all has to be so subtle, so people won't freak out. I'm terribly cynical, and it seems like they have to sort of balance these themes out to keep everyone happy. For example, the Ryan/Gabriella stuff they threw in HSM so conservative parents wouldn't lose it after noticing how much chemistry Ryan and Chad have. There was definitely no chemistry between Ryan and Gabriella but, you know, I'm sure parents don't care so long as it's there and one of the kids aren't - gasp - gay. And I think it might be a little too difficult for kids to pick up on. I wish things were different, and that it could be more blatant (and no one would get upset ( ... )

XD Yeah, Drake & Josh got away with a RIDICULOUS amount of stuff...which is why it's so much fun watching it. Lately, it's really the ONLY Nick show I watch, because it always happens to be on when there's a movie playing on Disney Channel that I'm not interested in. I used to watch it devotedly though.

You're probably right about the Ryan/Gabriella stuff being thrown in directly after the Ryan/Chad stuff as a cool down! XD It makes so much sense now with the placement of the scene.

It is really unfortunate that it all has to be subtle, but subtext is DEFINATELY better than nothing at all. And like I said, Ryan can be our little beacon of hope so long as he stays SINGLE and PINK.

XD You have no idea HOW happy you made my sister by mentioning Craig and Eric. Yeah, those two are blatant, and my sister loves those boys (I can't believe I forgot to mention them in this)! You're right it absolutely has to be intentional--I just wonder what Drake Bell and Josh Peck actually think about all of it! XD ( ... )

XD I've gotten my MOTHER addicted to Hannah Montana (she's a preschool teacher too, which helps) because before I went to college I had Disney Channel on all of the time and that was the show on whenever she sat down with us. She still watches it and DC now. XD So don't feel bad, you're not that immature ( ... )

Finally found out what the program was called! "Tickled Pink". There's a Wikipedia article on it, and a PDF file about it on TV Land's website. :)
