XD My best friend has now brightened my mood a little. She writes this blog, and today posted a very funny (as well as smart) little entry with a self-explanatory title. It's not that long, and deserves some checking out.
How To Have An Intelligent Discussion.
She makes some good points, and funny but relevant examples.
And wow, what a long and insightful response ^^.
People who automatically assume others have no intelligence because of different opinions, or bad spelling, themselves do not have much thinking intelligence. Like you said, there is a difference between the horrible spelling and legible errors.
While I do love to correct people's spelling and grammar, I would never assume they're dumb because of errors. After all, it could be a second (or third or more) language; the person could be tired; the person might not be an efficient typist; or the person might just not be good at language. Just because a person is lacking in one area, doesn't mean there's a lack in another.
That'd be like assuming that a person who is bad at math is automatically an idiot (and Stillthere4me is a perfect example of an extremely intelligent person who just happens to be bad at math).
Some people's logic really baffles me sometimes. I try to understand how they think it, but sometimes I still can't understand it even if I do come up with a possible reason to their logic - because I come up with more reasons against it.
