if a tree falls down in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?
yes of course it does. simple science tells us that sound is merely waves travelling through air and that the sound of the tree crashing down is picked up by receptors in our ears, which is then turned into sound in our brains.
while that may be true, it doesnt mean that the waves travelling through the air arent still sound. if i were to say that the tree crashing down does not make a sound then i would also be saying that if i were to lock myself in a pitch black room with a green hat, since there is no light bouncing off the hat into my eyes to reflect the colour of the hat, that the hat is not really green.
technically this would also mean that since i cannot see the hat, the hat doesnt really exist.
come on now people.
the hat does exist because wen the door is opened the hat will still be green.
the sound does exist because the next time a tree falls in the same forest and someone is around to hear it, it will make the same sound as the time before.
boy, the things i do to get my mind off of certain things.
i guess it was just one of those days.
i know it will be better tomorrow. we'll be better.
