[As it's a dream, there's no recollection of how he got here. He just knows he's standing in the throne room. It smells of blood - heavy and permeating, no way to ignore it or deny it

[And Rita has no idea what's going on all of a sudden--she barely even knows who Jowy is--but she sees Riou, her friend, about to be killed and doesn't think. She just dashes forward, intent on stopping this guy. For some reason, she's not carrying any heavy books right now; but that's not important. She'll use her fists if she has to.]

You'd better drop it if you know what's good for you!

[stillprotecting]

[And Jowy wants to. He wants to, but this is a nightmare, and he simply turns around. He doesn't know what he looks like, but he knows he's horrified. These are actions he can't control no matter how much he wants to.]

Stop me. Please.

[blastiafreak]

You're damn right I'll stop you!

[She doesn't know anything about this guy or why he's attacking Riou, but neither of those matter. She comes at him with her fists aimed at his gut to try and get him to drop the weapon.]

[stillprotecting]

[But it's his nightmare, and his body moves without his permission, dodging her punch and throwing her off and away from him.]

[blastiafreak]

[She stumbles slightly and straightens. This would be a lot easier if she had a substantial weapon--where did she leave hers? It's not that big an issue, though; she'll use her magic instead, and begins casting a spell.]

O flickering blaze burn-!

[stillprotecting]

[Dreams and nightmares never end how you want them to, and Jowy looks at her, waiting, wanting this to succeed, but he can feel the power in the Beast Rune, in the Rune in his hand and he just knows that it won't.]

[blastiafreak]

Fireball!

[On the other hand, Rita's pretty confident that this'll work. Why wouldn't it? So she finishes the spell and forms two fireballs that will speed towards Jowy.]

[stillprotecting]

[Jowy watches as they come towards him - before his hand moves in a slow, sweeping gesture, and it's like they were never there at all.]

[blastiafreak]

...Huh?

[Well, that makes Rita pause. Maybe she should try a different one, so--she makes a quick glance over to Riou to make sure he's still alive.]

[stillprotecting]

[He looks at her.]

This isn't going to work here.

[blastiafreak]

Oh, really? And just how do you figure that?

[She's defensive, very much looking for a fight--plus she's itching to know how he negated her spell, too.]

[stillprotecting]

Because. This isn't that kind of place.

[His Rune is glowing but god, he doesn't want to use it. He doesn't want to be here. He knows how this nightmare is supposed to end.]

[blastiafreak]

Try a better explanation! And while you're at it, why don't you go ahead and tell me just what you think you were doing?

[Pointing to Riou, she glowers at Jowy. Something about him just doesn't seem right, though she's not sure what it is.]

[stillprotecting]

[The fact that Riou hasn't moved. Riou's still there, still on his knees, and Jowy's turning a little to look at him, back to look at her again.]

Making sacrifices to... oh god, I don't want - I didn't - I'd never.

[blastiafreak]

Sacrifices? You freak--

[No, cut it out. Although she's livid and shaking with rage, Rita's aware enough to recognize the horror on his face.]

If...If you don't want to do this, then stop.

[stillprotecting]

I can't! It doesn't seem to be.

[Control. He grits his teeth and meets her eyes and says:]

Kill me. You have to. You have to do it.
