Good News: Have found Phai the Laptop.
Bad News: Have already crashed him (I blame Dad).

ETA: All OK now. Apparently he was just being finicky because it was his first day of life, or something. Also, he does not yet have Internet, which would make anyone cranky and apt to crash, I suppose.
First day of Project: how can something be so informative, depressing, and boring all at once? Hopefully I will get to court at some point. Optimism, self: it is only Day 1.
Now, I'll fall over and tomorrow I will buy a mouse for Phai, because that touchpad thing? Yeah, not gonna happen for long, people. No WAY.
