I've had Jewish characters in my fanfiction (not counting Blair Sandburg, of course.) Sometimes I've made them observant - there was one long X-Files story where I had a religious woman as a victim of a serial kiler, which meant I had to find out what would happen if an autopsy was necessary, and so I had a hospital chaplain to tell Scully what to do (do an extremely thorough job and keep track of everything so that disinterment would not be necessary, plus make sure everything could eventually be buried with her) and to take care of the grieving husband.

I've also had them as incidental characters (a Jewish family among the others on a cul-de-sac in one of my Sweetcheeks stories, a couple of walk-ons here and there, that sort of thing - and I did a couple of "what if X character were Jewish stories - pretty much on a dare, I made Skinner Jewish, and I wrote a Snape-as-Jewish story because I got tired of reading stories where the writers explained Alan Rickman's very distinctive looks as anything *but* Jewish (Arabic, Romani, Italian. My favorite was Esperanto...

In my head, few if any of these walk-ons were religious.

Do you happen to have a link to the Snape-as-Jewish fic?

I love those, and I think I've only read two.

Thanks in advance.

and just to show my appreciation, here are the other stories (that I know of) in which Snape is Jewish:
here, EllieD has written a series in which Snape is Jewish, so I count it as one story for convenience.
And "Breeding Lilacs our of Dead Land" by Areola at Ashwinder.

25th Day.

I'm reasonably proud of this one, even though it's been thoroughly Jossed.
