After creating an entry on
stilljewish at Fanlore, I realized that part of the story behind the creation of this lj comm is the interconnected series of conversations about Judaism and fandom that many of us have been having over the last -- what: year? few years? decade? lifetime? *g*
I'd love to have a comprehensive wiki entry on the subject of Judaism and Fandom: how do these two worlds intersect for us? How does this play out in our source-texts (which shows/books/etc do a good job of portraying Judaism, and which don't?) and how does it play out in our fannish communities (both single-fandom and panfandom)? What are the challenges of negotiating dual identities as Jews and as fans, and what are the joys?
Anyway, I started a page:
Judaism and fandom. It's incredibly bare-bones, and it needs more ideas, thoughts, references, citations. So I figured I'd ask for help here. :-) It's incredibly easy to create a user account at the wiki and start editing; I'd love to see this page really blossom into a record of some of our fannish Jewish history. If you've got references or links to add, please do?
Thanks, y'all. Sorry to be spamming you with two wiki posts in a day -- I seem to have a bunch of anxiety about the US election tomorrow, which I'm sublimating by focusing on Fanlore a bunch.
