New New New
Quick recap of the last few months:
1.My car's brakes died + Matt's car sounded horrible = We got new cars!!
2. We moved into a new apartment. I will post pics when we are more moved in. Thanks to my parents, elusivecallie and samantha_n_john for helping us with our move. They were all awesome.
3. I got a new job. I will start my new position in about four weeks and I have a ton of work to get done between now and then. I am going to be working at Wings Academy, a school for kids who learn differently. The majority of our kids are some form of special ed. I will, among other things, be creating a music program for their school. I'm super excited!! The pay is better, the benefits are better (with the exception of discounted child care), the schedule is better, and it's much closer to what I went to school for than what I have been doing. The school calendar is a modified year-round schedule: teachers start at the beginning of August, kids come back in the middle of the month, two weeks off in Oct, a couple days off for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a short mid-winter break, two weeks for Spring Break, the kids are done in the middle of June, and the teachers finish at the end of June with the entire month of July off. I love being a teacher!! I'm really looking forward to it, and not just for all the extra perks. I just love teaching, and I'm really looking forward to going back to the classroom on my terms teaching something that I am passionate about.
4. Joyce and Jake got married. The wedding was beautiful up in Door County and we had a great time. Matt provided the music for the cocktail hour as well as played the song for their first dance. I got to spend a bunch of time with Sarah W and Kate so that was great. We had a really good time hanging out. Our suite was very nice and we enjoyed the lovely bedroom..... ;-)
5. I'm doing a teddy bear round robin swap on Ravelry. So I'll be posting pics of that.
