× - dislike. One symbolizes annoyance, two symbolizes frustration, three is a strong dislike, and four is hate.
√ - one is curiosity. Riku is pinged enough to strike up a conversation more than once. Two means that Riku's fairly curious and wants to know more about someone or their world, three means Riku is intrigued.
☺ - one symbolizes an acquaintance, two is a close acquaintance, three is friendship, and four means a close friend. Five is bff territory, reserved for people who really mean a lot to Riku. If you manage to get this far, then congrats. Riku will do just about anything for ya.

Xion means the world to Riku. From the first time she arrived in Luceti up until now he's been close to her, be it friends or something more. Though at first he was mostly fascinated in her similarities to Kairi, he came to admire Xion for her sweet personality as well as the fact that Xion was someone he could turn to when it came to issues he wouldn't even trust with his friends, even if she didn't always understand what he had to say. In return, whenever Xion was upset, he'd try his best to cheer her up. Their closeness eventually led to the two becoming a couple...
Unfortunately, things have fallen into disarray between the two. During the AU event, Riku obtained the Keyblade-- something he'd longed for a very long time. After the event, the loss of the Keyblade set him off, and he said something he'd soon come to regret. By claiming that the Keyblade should have been his from the start, he shattered her heart and broke her trust.
Needless to say, he's in deep regret for this mistake, even now that he's been canon updated. While Xion and Riku are on decent terms for now, they've opted to "start over" and just be friends until things get sorted out, something that hurts far more than he's let on. However, he doesn't expect things to be easy and will do whatever it takes to set things right.
