[Yeah, he definitely heard Sora and just... laughs. Oh, man.]

[Sora laughs too, although there's something of a pensive tinge there. bit of a rough start to the weekend, as it were.]

What made you pick Traverse Town?

[He shrugs, looking around the area. Riku definitely picked up on that pensive tinge, but he won't pry right now.]

It's peaceful compared to a lot of the worlds I visited.

[Sora can't disagree with that. when he was younger, Traverse Town was something of a starting point to every other task he started out on-- somewhere to go to regroup, rethink, recharge. somewhere to go if an injury was just beyond the group's curing capabilities.]

[this world's purpose exists with a price: with the loss of other worlds, but Sora would have been lost without it.]

[Riku never stuck around long enough to really form an attachment. He was here to find Sora and probably did some exploring, but as soon as he did see him, things went downhill.

Still, the place has a nice feeling to it. So, he'll nod.]

All right, c'mon.

[District 2 was never nearly as safe as District 1, but Sora often wound up there whenever he needed time alone (read: he needed to get away after arguing with Donald). which, being the kind of person Sora is, didn't always happen too often.]

[regardless, he leads the way through District 2 toward the Gizmo Shop, letting muscle memory guide him toward the ladder on the side of the building up to the roof. it leads him to a jump or two across rooftops until they reach a tall building. a prime spot to sit back and stare up at the stars. sometimes seeing one blink out was the main reason he wound back up in District 1, back then.]

[Needless to say, Riku's impressed. Sora really knows his way around this town, and the view's incredible.

It's a nice reprieve from the general insanity of Luceti, and once they reach their destination, he'll gaze down at their surroundings in awe.]

I came here a lot when I needed to think.

[sort of like right now, as it were. but hanging out with Riku is perfectly fine by him, too-- back then, a chance to explore new worlds with him and Kairi was all Sora really wanted.]

Riku sighs and remains quiet for a moment. How's he supposed to handle this?

I was jealous for a few reasons, Sora.

[Let's start with the easy stuff...]

You ended up with the Keyblade, got to play the hero, and spent so much time with Donald and Goofy.

[...But that's not the whole truth.]

But honestly? It's because you've always been so carefree. Just... following your heart. I could never pull that off.
