5 jobs are going at CDEB (Central Data Entry Bureau). I’m considering putting in for them. There’s a lot to think about before I make a decision, and a lot of pros and cons.
Pros: rotating shift work (better pay, constant change, more days off), no more dealing with the public, better pay, dealing 100% with police matters, better pay, a change of scene, nicer office, no overtime to cover bills, better pay.
Cons: rotating shift work (could work weekends, public holidays, some day shifts with 7am starts!!), irregular hours, effort of putting in an application.
Given that when I went for the job I’m in now, I also went for a job at CDEB and was told the only reason I didn’t get it was because of an internal applicant, and with 5 permanent positions and 3 fixed terms going, it’s almost guaranteed I’ll get an interview if not a job. I have until the 8th to make a decision, so I’ll think about it some more. Day shifts starts will really kill me though, but I’d love to be away from the phones.
