Taking this quiz, I was caught off guard by my reaction to one of the optional responses. It was "(You...) feel somewhat out of place, but still have something to contribute." For a lingering little moment, I was very quietly floored.
It wasn't quite on a level with "Someone understands me!", yet it encapsulated what I realized I've been feeling for some time now. (Sort of lame, that. Like undergoing a religious epiphany upon a reading of The Idiot's Guide to Chicken Soup for the Soul.)
I don't even know why I should feel that way. If anything I think I should feel like I have a definitive "role" in the hearts of the people I have come to belong with... And now I wonder if this goes back to what I've talked briefly to Meaty and Andy (nutsy_seph) about. (It seemed to me last year that they were obsessing over existentialism; Andy kept telling Meaty (aka, Ben) that he (Ben again) was trying to define himself by his roles, and that this was bad. It seemed silly to me at the time, yet Meaty seems to go around these days as if with his core strapped to the foreground of his mind. He remembers who he is; he doesn't dither. This is partly reflective of how Meaty is no longer in the situation he was then, that bad time he and Jess were going through, but he himself attributes his improvement largely to his existential, um, breakthrough.)
