Summary Pre-series. Takes place after Buffy ran away from home after burning down her first high school's gym. I'm using comics canon, so that's why I included the 'comics' tag.
Buffy had spent her sixteenth birthday sitting around in a motel room in Vegas with a drunk Pike. She would later joke that it had been the start of the ‘Buffy birthday curse.’ She hadn’t run away from home not that long before, and was still reeling from having just burned down her high school’s gym, which HAD been full of vampires, thank you.
Pike had tried to make the day a little special by purchasing a tiny birthday cake from a grocery store, but it had mostly tasted like plastic. Of course, being Pike, he had also bought a bottle of tequila. She’d only had a little of it. He’d sucked down the rest of it and passed out before midnight. It had definitely been a sad birthday and certainly not the ‘sweet sixteen’ blast that she had been planning just a month before with all of her friends who had now abandoned her.
She flopped back onto the bed and sighed. She could hear Pike snoring softly on the second bed in the room, and half thought of stuffing a sock in his mouth in order to quiet it. Talk about a birthday fail.
