This was it. A new town, a new club, and a clean slate. It was also the end of another year and the beginning of the party to end all parties. At least for this year. The music blared loudly as the drinks flowed freely. Laughter echoed throughout the room as couples moved in time to the music.
Lorne smiled widely. This was his element. What he was meant to do. He wasn't a fighter by any means, he'd proven that months ago. He shook his head furiously as he tried to dislodge the memories that threatened. Now was definitely not the time to let himself think about his long lost friends. After all it was party time and he could throw some of the best parties anyone had ever seen. Even if he did have to say so himself.
Suddenly the dance floor cleared as the song changed. In the spotlight a lone woman danced across the floor like she owned the place. Like a well oiled machine her body moved to the tempo of the music. All eyes watched as she danced, every male in the room wondered if he had a shot. If somehow, someway he could be the lucky one to take her home.
Lorne smiled ruefully, apparently he was no different. He couldn't help himself, he stared at the blonde on the dance floor, her body swayed in all the right ways, her dress showed just the right amount of skin. And he couldn't help but wonder how she felt about wearing green.
As the song ended, Lorne grabbed two bottles from the tray and headed toward the dance floor. It was nothing nefarious he assured himself as he walked towards the blonde, he was just being a polite host. Besides with moves like that she had to be thirsty.
His eyes widened with shock as the woman turned to face him. It couldn't be! "Harmonica?"
"Lorneytunes!" Harmony squealed as she launched herself into Lorne's arms. It had been so long since she'd him.
Although he tried to ignore the collective groans from the hopefuls who'd watched he couldn't help but smile at the blonde in his arms. He'd forgotten how expressive she could be. For a moment he hugged her close before he sat her back on her feet. "What are you doing here?"
"You know." She pushed the blonde hair out of her eyes. "After everything that happened I asked myself where a young, vibrant, beautiful woman, okay vampire, like me should be and voila here I am!" She extended her arms as she twirled.
She really hadn't changed a bit. "Lucky for us too!" Lorne smiled down at Harmony. "I haven't had the new Caritas up and running long it's a wonder that you found it. You wouldn't believe the red tape in Las Vegas. I thought this would be the one place that Angel wouldn't....." He let the sentence trail off. "Anyhoo, let me give you the grand tour." He placed a hand in the small of her back as he began to guide her away from the dance floor. As they walked they began to talk about old times, everything except.... It was almost as if she knew that Lorne wasn't ready to face those memories yet. Maybe she had changed after all. Unable to help himself, Lorne glanced down at the woman beside him, she was so animated, so full of well...life and the purple dress clung to her in all the right places. He felt his heart quicken as his horns twitched. Maybe if he was really lucky they could make some new memories. And the old ones wouldn't hurt so much.
