Giles glanced down at the outlandish clothes lying on the bed. The red velvet pants, the shirt and.... Good Lord the hat! A wave of happiness went through him that he wasn't the poor sod that was going to have to wear it. Whoever the person was, he had his deepest sympathies.
"Giles, do they fit?"
He turned around and stared at the woman standing in the doorway her hands on her hips. "Does what fit?"
She smiled as she pointed to the awful clothes.
Surely she didn't expect him to... "No. Absolutely not."
"Giles."
"There are some things that I just will not do. And dressing up in this garish outfit and yelling Ho Ho Ho is most definitely one of them." Giles folded his arms firmly across his chest. At the look on her face he knew she wasn't thrilled with him at the moment but this was one time he wasn't giving in.
"Fine. Then I'll let you explain to our daughter that there isn't a Santa Claus."
Bloody hell! The thought of his two-year-old daughter upset brought him up short. There was no way that he was going to be the one responsible for breaking her heart. A huge sigh escaped him as he gave in. "Okay, I'll do it but you have to promise that you won't tell anyone about this. Ever."
Buffy walked over to stand in front of him, pulled his face down to place a lingering kiss on his lips before she whispered softly, "Don't worry your secret is safe with me."
As his wife walked out of their bedroom to get their daughter ready for her visit from Santa, a soft, rueful smile pulled at the corners of his mouth. She really knew his weaknesses. A deep scowl crossed his face as he picked up the trousers in one hand before he shrugged his shoulders and began to undress. It could be worse. At least it wasn't Easter.
