Title Gunpowder for Remembrance
Author Brutti ma Buoni
Rating PG13
Word Count 100
Prompt 150 (5 November - Guy Fawkes Night/Bonfire Night)
Characters/Pairing (if any) Darla

“Remember, remember, the fifth of November.”

(1605, that would be.

When the vain and thwarted met the fanatical and dangerous, and together they thought to blow the king and Parliament all the way to hell. And were caught in the act, or burnt by their own gunpowder).

Every few years, Darla passes children chanting the November rhyme. It makes her frown.

Of course she remembers. She was there. Who paid the plot-betraying messenger? Who stood by the gallows and watched their flesh quartered? Felt the thrill of bloody death so near?

Darla was made for vampire-dom, long before she turned.
