"What’s his deal?" Cordelia didn't bother to look at Willow as she spoke. She was too busy staring at Xander.
"He's daring everyone he comes in contact with, so you'd better watch out. Xander can get pretty creative with the dares you know." Willow closed her eyes and shivered at the memory of her five-year-old self being dared to eat a mud pie and other creepy crawlies that were best not thought about.
Cordelia gave Willow an uncomprehending look. "Huh?"
"Today is June first. It's Dare Day."
"Of course it is." Cordelia watched warily as Xander started walking purposefully towards her. Surely to all that was holy even Xander Harris knew better than to dare her. But she couldn't be positive. It was better to nip this in the bud.
"Hey, Xander." She quickly called before he could get a chance to say anything. "I dare you...no I double dare you to go the rest of the day without saying another dare."
"Oh, man." Xander's brow furrowed as he tried to work a way around Cordy's dare. He might've been able to disregard it but she'd double dared him. That was something he couldn't ignore. Two minutes later he gave up, shot Cordy a very disappointed look turned around and went in the opposite direction.
Willow stared at Cordelia with what could only be seen as admiration. "You beat Xander to a dare. No one has ever done that before."
A secretive smile teased at the corners of Cordy's mouth. No one had ever had the incentive she had for stopping Xander. But she had to admit he had looked so pitiful, almost like a kid who was told there was no Christmas. She'd make it up to him. That is after she made it clear to him that nothing in their relationship was open for dares. She'd always thought that was something that didn't need to be said. But apparently when it came to Xander nothing should be left to chance.
